Great question! The key is to choose casual pieces that still reflect your body type, color type, or core style. You don’t need all three at once. Just focus on the aspect(s) that feels most important to you right now.
E.g. Prioritize body type if you want better fit and proportions (if you care about the base outfit being more flattering). Start with color type if you enjoy color or want to prioritize a cohesive palette. Or lean into core style if you're craving more personality in your everyday clothes (or if you don't care much about color or body type).
If you want a shortcut, choose a few high-impact accessories to rotate through. A ball cap, some statement earrings that don't look too fancy (e.g. something in a simple metal, a beaded or acrylic earring in your color palette, or something understated yet quirky), some crew socks, a weird bag or a weird shoe.
If your go-to is basic leggings and a hoodie, try updating the proportions of the base look and adding accessories. For instance, capri leggings and a cropped hoodie paired with a belt bag, ball cap, simple hoop earrings, and a tennis bracelet. Then choose either minimal heeled sandals or crew socks and a chic sneaker to finish the look, depending on your vibe.
The base items can be simple. It’s the thoughtful choice of shape and proportion, plus the small add-ons that bring in your creativity.
I would love your help with adding some kind of classic loafer to my closet/capsule so that I can play a bit more with proportions and especially as I start to think about slightly elevating Fall outfits by swapping out a sneaker for a loafer. However, I have no idea where to start as there are so many different styles and I’ve actually never owned a loafer. I don’t want it to look too dressy/menswear like or black and chunky. I like the looks I see more when I am looking at Italian styles and have wondered if even brown or gray suede options make more sense with a true summer palette. Your previous shoe recommendations have worked out BEAUTIFULLY for me in terms of both style and comfort so I’d love to know if you have any recommendations.
Ooh I'd love to help! I did a bit of searching and found several options for you to consider.
If you're willing to go for a slip-on pair, this round-toe loafer in chocolate brown suede from Black Suede Studio is gorgeous. The round toe keeps it feminine, but it's also not too dainty. Looks great with or without socks too, and the backless style makes it more wearable with dresses, skirts, or shorts without looking chunky: https://go.shopmy.us/p-22785033
Refomation also have a nice minimal option. Comes in brown and light blue, although I'd be wary of the light blue as it might mark easily: https://rstyle.me/+HPQ9S_lpzLisYgSJuEPZpQ
If you want to go high end, Tod's is probably the best brand out there for loafers. A driving shoe would be a nice casual option, and is easily interchangeable with a sneaker. They have a lot of fun Summer colors too, including gray, various shades of blue, and some light neutral beiges: https://rstyle.me/+-A8ebs8mT7QFSrFQHxHdYg
Yes! I hadn’t even considered a slip on pair but I love the look and idea of that first pair from Black Suede Studio. Love the Aeyde pair as well though.
Hello! I'm kinda interested in this skirt (linked below). I'm inclined think it wouldn't be ideal for FN body type, but I'm not sure why. Maybe because of the angle and stiffness of the drape? What do you think? FN approved or nah?
I wish that it listed the length because my first thought is that it looks a bit short for FN. It looks like it could possibly hit closer to the knee than I would like.
I do also agree that the fabric is a bit stiff and the design adds stiffness (which is also highlighted by the red seaming.
My gut reaction is to say that this would be a really cool skirt for a Dramatic Classic who wanted to incorporate natural textures and slightly unusual cuts into their wardrobe.
I really appreciate the design, but I do think you are right to be skeptical.
Do you have tips for balancing personal style with a very casual lifestyle or dress code? I want to feel creative but not overdressed.

I also perceive the skirt to be close to knee length. Thank you for de-influencing me!
